Part Two: Application Materials

All application materials listed below must be sent to mixtaperecitalseries@gmail.com for consideration.

1: Concert Proposal
File should be 1-3 pages, saved as a PDF.
Please include a performance order of sample repertoire with composers cited. You may submit up to three pages total, including any annotations, links, or images that would help us understand your vision. This does not need to be a polished, final version of the complete recital, but we would like to see a clear theme developing throughout. Any of the following elements would be of great interest to our audition panel: Collaborations with a local composer. Thematic connections to your city. Fundraiser recitals for local charities. Art installations or unusual venues. Repertoire that is “new to you”, outside your regular comfort zone, or stylistically reimagined. (Note: These are NOT required, and your concert proposal may be excellent without them.)

2: Personal Statement
File should be about 500 words, saved as a PDF.
This season, Mixtape Recital Series is supporting singers with close artistic ties to Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. Please tell us how your city has influenced your career path or shaped this particular concert program. Our other mission is to support “artists in transition” – please tell us what that means to you personally.

3: Video Recordings
Two video files are required with your application. Please submit unedited recordings.
Recordings may be contrasting pieces from your proposed concert program OR similar repertoire, preferably art song that shows your performance style and abilities.

If you are applying as an ensemble but do not have videos together as a group, please use the first two video submissions to show song work from your primary vocalist(s). Then, you may supplement to show work from other collaborators.

4: Repertoire List
Please share the details of your audition recordings. Include title, cycle/work, composer, and language.

5: Mini bio
File should be 100 words, saved as a PDF. Please submit a short bio to introduce yourself, in lieu of a formal resume.

6: Headshot
Please include a headshot.

7: Application Fee
An application fee of $15 is required and non-refundable. Any applications or documents submitted after our deadline (October 31, 2022) will be charged an additional $20 as a late fee.
